LMGG-RIDGEFIELD-BOLSHOI

The Ridgefield Playhouse and AAA Northeast Live in HD Series bring the Bolshoi Ballet in HD’s beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker, on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 7 p.m.

With its fairytale setting and Tchaikovsky’s timeless score it’s a wonderful way for the entire family to celebrate the holiday season.

The Bolshoi’s version of The Nutcracker has a unique and beautiful sense of romance and philosophy, danced by the heroic Denis Rodkin as the courageous Prince and the magical Anna Nikulina as Marie.

As with all of the performances in the HD Series, enjoy dinner and a show by visiting Bernard’s (20 West Lane, Ridgefield) on the day of the show for a great prix fixe menu when you present your tickets. Media sponsor for this series is 91.1fm WSHU.

An encore screening of London’s National Theatre’s presentation of Shakespeare’s searing tragedy of political manipulation and revenge, Coriolanus will be screened in high definition on Friday, Jan. 8, at 6:30 p.m. It features an Evening Standard Award-winning performance from Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers, War Horse on film, and BBC’s The Hollow Crown) in the title role, directed by the Donmar’s Artistic Director Josie Rourke. The full company includes Jacqueline Boatswain, Peter De Jersey, Alfred Enoch, Deborah Findlay, Hadley Fraser, Mark Gatiss, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Elliot Levey, Rochenda Sandall, Helen Schlesinger, Mark Stanley and Dwane Walcott. When an old adversary threatens Rome, the city calls once more on her hero and defender: Coriolanus. But he has enemies at home too. Famine threatens the city, the citizens’ hunger swells to an appetite for change, and on returning from the field Coriolanus must confront the march of realpolitik and the voice of an angry people.

The AAA Northeast HD series is underwritten by Jeanne Cook, Anita and Nicholas Donofrio, Liz and Steven Goldstone, Sabina and Walter Slavin, with support from The Ridgefield Press and Whistle Stop Bakery.
